Mina, outskirts of Makkah, Dhu-AlHijjah 10, 1436, Sep 24, 2015, SPA -- Major General Mansour Al-Turki, the Security spokesman of the ministry of interior, today cast light on the stampede incident that occurred in Mina today and led to the loss and injury of several pilgrims. In a press conference in Mina-based Public Security headquarters this evening, he said security operations are still going on at the site, noting that the security authorities have dealt with the incident as should be, saving several of the would-other-wise-be victims. He reported that Crown Prince Mohammed bin Naif, the Deputy Premier and Minister of Interior, has instructed, during his meeting with security leaders, the formation of a high-level investigation panel. He said the number of pilgrims increased at the intersection of 204 street and 223 street in Mina and the movement of going and coming pilgrims in this place led to the falling to ground of a number of pilgrims. Also the high temperature and fatigue of pilgrims who exerted great effort in the previous period after having attended Arafat have led to the fall of a number of them, noting that traffic is usual at its highs in the early hour of the tenth day of Zulhijja on the roads leading to Muzdalifah and Mina. --More 22:13 LOCAL TIME 19:13 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
