Manila, Dhu-AlQa'dah 08, 1436, August 23, 2015, SPA -- The national disaster relief agency urged residents in the northern Philippines to be alert for flooding Sunday, after a typhoon dumped heavy rains in the mountain provinces and left at least 10 people dead, dpa reported. The National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council issued the warning in 19 towns and cities in the province of Pangasinan, about 150 kilometres north of Manila, due to the release of water from a nearby dam. The agency advised authorities to conduct preemptive evacuations, especially along riverbanks. Typhoon Goni was steadily moving away from the Philippines, with its centre was last spotted at 360 kilometres north-east of Basco town in the northernmost island-province of Batanes, the weather bureau said Sunday.
