Typhoon Soudelor leaves 21 dead, five missing in China

Beijing, Shawwal 25, 1436, August 10, 2015, SPA -- At least 21 people were killed and five missing in a typhoon in eastern China over the weekend, authorities said Monday, according to dpa. Typhoon Soudelor made landfall on the south-eastern province of Fujian Saturday and moved to neighbouring Zhejiang, Jiangxi and Anhui provinces before being downgraded to a tropical storm. The storm triggered mudslides and flooding, the Ministry of Civil Affairs said on its website. As of Monday morning, 14 people were killed and four were missing in the hardest-hit province of Zhejiang, the ministry said. The storm also left three dead and one missing in Fujian province, and four dead in Anhui province.
