Geneva, Safar 26, 1436, December 18, 2014, SPA -- The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia reiterated its condemnation of the assassination of Israeli authorities of Palestinian Minister Ziad Abu Ein, calling on the international community to provide protection for the unarmed Palestinian people. In a speech delivered here yesterday by Saudi Ambassador to the United Nations in Geneva, Faisal bin Hassan Trad, in front of the International Conference of High Contracting Parties to the Fourth Geneva Convention, he stressed that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia considers the Palestinian cause as its first issue and it has never been just a spectator to what is happening in Palestine, but it has provided, through its leadership, many serious initiatives to end the conflict, and it is committed to supporting peace based on the vision of a two-state solution He pointed out that the Kingdom calls upon the international community to act to save the peace process and stop Israeli tampering in Holy Quds and Al-Aqsa Mosque, the first Qiblah and the third holiest mosque, stressing that abiding by the rules of international legitimacy and fulfilling the pledges are the best way to achieve security and stability, noting that if the current Israeli government is serious in its quest to achieve peace with the Palestinian side, it should reaffirm its commitment to the provisions of the signed agreement and proceed to the resumption of negotiations for the completion of resolving the outstanding issues. --SPA 11:00 LOCAL TIME 08:00 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
