The first visit by a high-level Saudi delegation to the United States was in 1943, when King Abdulaziz sent his two late sons, Prince Faisal bin Abdulaziz, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Prince Khalid bin Abdulaziz, to discuss the future of bilateral relations between the two countries. In June, 1945, Prince Faisal bin Abdulaziz visited the United States representing King Abdulaziz to attend the United Nations' founding in the city of San Francisco. In 1951, the name of the US company excavating for oil in the kingdom was changed from California Arabian Standard Oil company to Arab American Oil Company, which was later known as just Saudi Aramco company and in 1951, the joint defense agreement was signed by the two countries. The late King Saud bin Abdulaziz Al Saud was the first Saudi monarch to visit the United States on 12 January, 1947 during which he met with US President Dwight D.
