Cairo, February 28, 2022, SPA -- The Arab League Secretary-General, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, called on the international community to engage in serious action to end the current crisis in Ukraine politically and diplomatically, to address the situation, restore stability and achieve security for all, in line with the international law and the Charter of the United Nations. In a message to the extraordinary meeting of the Arab League's meeting at the level of permanent delegates today, which was delivered by Assistant Secretary General and Head of the Office of the Secretary General Ambassador Hossam Zaki, Aboul Gheit said that "We are aware of the positions of all parties. They are all friendly parties.We believe that it was necessary to intensify efforts to reach arrangements that satisfy everyone without resorting to military force, because wars have their sad and high costs, unfortunately.” Aboul Gheit underlined that all peace-loving countries and organizations must work quickly to stop the escalation and not fuel it, restore dialogue and seek to settle the crisis through indispensable diplomacy to avoid further deterioration of the situation.
