Geneva, June 14, 2022, SPA -- Member states of the Riyadh-based Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) called on the world community to shouder its responsibility towards Israeli violations of the rights of the Palestinian people, urging for exerting more efforts to revive the peace process and negotiations between the Palestinian side and Israel including the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on 1967 parallel with Eastern Al-Quds as its capital and guarantee the rights of refugees according to the Arab peace initiative, the two-state solution and the relevant international legitimacy resolutions. This came in a speech delivered today by the representative of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the United Nations Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Wasel before the Human Rights Council, on behalf of the GCC countries. The GCC countries thanked the ad hoc committee assigned to conduct an investigation into the violations on the occupied Palestinian territories for its detailed first report discussed by the HRC, citing the regrettable outcome of the report confirming that Israel has no intention to end the occupation of the Palestinian territories or recognize any international legitimacy or mandate or execute any recommendation. Instead, it totally neglects all international charters and UN charter bases, the report says. The GCC confirmed that beseiging the Palestinians in Gaza Strip for more than 15 years, togther with several breaches of human rights, would undermine any possibility of achieving peace or putting an end to violence in the region. --SPA 00:11 LOCAL TIME 21:11 GMT 0001 www.spa.gov.sa/w1746040
