Riyadh, June 04, 2021, SPA -- The Saudi newspapers highlighted in their editorials today a number of issues at local, regional and international arenas. Al-Bilad newspaper reported in its editorial that a new achievement, recorded by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia at the international level, as the UN General Assembly adopted the Riyadh Initiative to combat corruption, during the General Assembly's special session held in Vienna. In such unprecedented step, the world will witness setting of the Global Network of Anti-Corruption Law Enforcement Authorities (GlobE Network), the paper added. The new achievement would effectively to contribute to rebuilding trust and bringing perpetrators of corruption to justice, the paper further added. This significant progress has affirmed the unlimited support being provided for Saudi Arabia’s Oversight and Anti-Corruption Authority by the wise leadership to enable it to implement its tasks in protecting integrity, combating corruption locally, in addition to strengthening its cooperation with regional and international agencies and organizations, the paper concluded. In another context, Al-Eqtisadiah newspaper reported in its editorial that as a number of countries in the world are witnessing COVID-19 Pandemic and its severe health and economic implications, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has demonstrated capability to its people and the world in dealing with crises and events whatever their differences. In this regard, Saudi Arabia has worked on developing sources of income and supporting the economy and preservation of gains, the paper said. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) experts also raised their expectations for the growth of the Saudi economy this year from 2.6 percent to 2.9 percent, stressing the safety and success of the measures being taken by Saudi Arabia to address the challenges of the pandemic, the paper added . Saudi Arabia is one of the first countries to provide the vaccine to its citizens and residents, as 40% of the Saudi population are vaccinated, the paper further added.
