UN seminar in Geneva on violations of Al-Houthi and deposed Salih militias in Yemen

Geneva, 13 Ramadan,1438 AH, 08 June,2017 , SPA -- The Yemeni Coalition for Monitoring Human Rights Violations held a seminar yesterday at the United Nations in Geneva on the sidelines of the 35th session of the Human Rights Council. The Coalition's Executive Director Mutahar Al-Baziji presented a report on the human rights situation in Yemen from January to May 2017. During the period from January 1 to May 31, 2017, the Yemeni Coalition documented the deaths of 715 people due to attacks, direct killings, snipers, landmines, executions and deaths under torture. The assassination operations increased dramatically in a number of Yemeni provinces, as the record of the assassination amounted to (70) Yemenis, including activists and opponents. The Coalition also recorded the deaths of 39 civilians, including 5 children and 3 women, on account of individual mines and anti-vehicle mines that documented the planting of Houthi and Saleh weapons in a number of Yemeni areas , including the governorates of Taiz, Jouf, Dali, Baida and Marib. The Yemeni coalition documented 1568 cases of forced detention from the beginning of January until 31 May 2017 in a number of Yemeni governorates. The coalition's team received reports on missing of (430) Yemeni citizens, including (109) activists, and (56) politicians (15) children and one woman. -- SPA 15:16 LOCAL TIME 12:16 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w424000
