International Criticisms against Violations of Houthi-Saleh Militias in Yemen

Aden, Jumada I 10, 1437, Feb 19, 2016, SPA -- The pace of international criticism is escalated against violations committed by Houthi militias and forces loyal to ousted Saleh against Yemenis since more than a year and a half, including operations of killing, abduction, compulsory removal as well as targeting journalists. In latest report regarding the situation in Yemen, Ismail Ould Sheikh, UN Assistant Secretary General and his Special Adviser to the Yemeni affairs, said that the fundamental freedoms of the Yemenis, particularly freedom of opinion and expression, continuously are violated. He said that the Yemenis are continuously and increasingly suffering of serious violations of international humanitarian law. The UN envoy enumerates cases of violations practiced by the militias, including targeting the civilian activists, which has been witnessed a remarkable increase regarding the number of reports on about rebuke and compulsory detention of journalists. In his report to the UN Security Council on mid-week, he said that operations of horrifying journalists is one of the most prominent violations of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR). The Houthi militias and forces loyal to ousted Saleh implemented direct and systematic targeting of civilians in a number of Yemeni cities, including Taiz.
