New York, Jan. 10, 2020, SPA -- The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia condemned Iran’s violation of the sovereignty of Iraq by targeting two Iraqi military bases, pointing to the Kingdom's continuous endeavor to keep the brotherly Iraq from the slides of war so that its people would live in security and prosperity, stressing that it will always stand with Iraq to overcome everything that threatens its security, stability and affiliation to its Arab identity. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia urged the international community to work to compel Iran to respect the sovereignty of states in the Middle East, to respect international laws and treaties, and to stop undermining the security of the region and the world. This came during a speech delivered today by the Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the United Nations, Ambassador Abdullah bin Yahya Al-Mouallimi, in the Security Council session held on Upholding to the United Nations Charter for the maintenance of international peace and security. Ambassador Al-Mouallimi stated that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has been keen since its inception to maintain international security and peace, and to promote collective action under the umbrella of the United Nations, based on its firm belief in the principles and goals of the United Nations, and its keenness to spread the message of peace and love, prevent destructive wars and conflicts, and maintain international peace and security. --SPA 00:55 LOCAL TIME 21:55 GMT 0008 www.spa.gov.sa/w1244282
