New York, Muharram 1, 1438 H., September 21, 2017, SPA -- Dr. Abdulaziz bin Hamad Al-Owaisheq, Assistant Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council for Political Affairs and Negotiations, met in New York today with President Abdrabbou Mansour Hadi of Yemen on the fringes of the UN General Assembly's 72nd session. During the meeting, Al-Owaisheq confirmed the position of the GCC states in support of legitimacy in Yemen, the UN efforts, led by its special representative to Yemen Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed, to end the political crisis on the bases of the three references: the GCC initiative and its executive mechanism, the outcomes of the comprehensive political dialogue and UN security council resolution No.2216. They review the issues on the agenda of the UN general assembly. Also, they reviewed the latest political, economic and humanitarian situations in Yemen.
