Mexico City, Dhu-AlQa'dah 06, 1437, August 09, 2016, SPA -- Fears of a possible hurricane bearing down on Mexico's Pacific coast were washed away Tuesday when the storm dubbed Javier fizzled to a tropical depression, dpa reported. The weather system's maximum sustained winds had fallen to 55 kilometres per hour. It was still expected to bring heavy wind and rains to the Baja California peninsula and areas along Mexico's north-western mainland coast, according to Mexico's water authority Conagua. Across Mexico's eastern coast, authorities were still grappling with the aftermath of a weekend tropical storm that left 45 people dead and thousands homeless. Tropical Storm Earl's violent rains set off landslides in a mountain chain in the states of Puebla and Veracruz. --SPA 22:51 LOCAL TIME 19:51 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
