Malaysian Embassy: Kingdom, Malaysia Work Closely in Finding Solutions to Many Issues 2 Riyadh

Malaysia is expecting the impact of the visit could raise the efforts of the Malaysian agencies and entities especially the business sector to have more cooperation and relations with their Saudi counterparts in the respective fields that are beneficial to both countries. On the cooperative relations in religious, humanitarian and social fields, the statement said that the cooperation with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on the abovementioned areas has been in existence for years. In the field of religion, the cooperation of both countries was through the involvement in series of programs pertaining to the development of Islamic nation. Apart from that, Malaysia annually hosts the Quranic Recitation and Memorization Competition and we are inviting the Kingdom to participate in its arbitration committee. We also invite Saudi participants in the competition. In the humanitarian and social fields, Malaysia and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia have been working closely towards upholding the humanitarian needs especially for those who are forming Islamic minorities and on the issue of Palestine. On diplomatic relations, both countries officially began them when the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has sent its representatives during Malaya's proclamation of independence on 31 August 1957. A year after, both countries established their Embassies in Kuala Lumpur and in Jeddah respectively. The Embassy of Malaysia then moved its office to Riyadh when the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia relocated its administrative capital from Jeddah to Riyadh. At Royal visits levels, late King Faisal bin Abdulaziz Al Saud paid a visit to Malaysia in 1970 and late King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud paid an official visit to Malaysia in 2006. --More 12:48 LOCAL TIME 09:48 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w340503
