On the Libyan affairs, Saudi Arabia and Britain agree on the importance of the implementation of Al-Sukhairat agreement as well as on the exertion of more effort to narrow the gaps among Libyan different factions and foes to form a government that would include all rivals in Libya and observe the country's security and stability, Al-Jubeir said. He explained that he discussed with the British foreign secretary ways of enhancing the current cooperation between the two countries in fighting terrorism and combating extremism, confirming that the talks, in this context, covered the Iranian interference in the affairs of the region, a move rejected by all countries of the region. He lauded the good relations between the two countries, also reviewed during the meeting, describing them as historical, strategic and deep-rooted, and confirming that the gains enjoyed by the two countries as a result of these distinguished and firm ties are appreciated by the two sides as both of them are seeking to further develop and enhance them in all fields. For his part, the British foreign secretary underscored the importance of his visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia from which, he said, he benefited very much to closely get in touch with the excellence currently enjoyed by this relation between the two countries at all levels. He pointed to the numerous terrorist incidents orchestrating the region, citing most recent ones in Cairo and Istanbul, noting that this enhances the importance of cooperation among countries and working together to build friendship and partnership as well as security relations between the two countries, noting that friendship ties between the two kingdoms go back to nearly a century, consisting of joint agreements which were reviewed during today's meeting and dealt with the historic ties binding the two countries, paying tribute to the audience held for him by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and emphasizing his appreciation of such ties during which they have recalled distinguished aspects, citing the historic meeting between King Abdulaziz, the founder of Saudi Arabia, and Winston Churchill, then British prime minister. He confirmed that relations between the two countries enjoy the same level of cooperation and witness tremendous development in all fields, noting that his meeting with minister Al-Jubeir cast light on the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia vision 2030 and its potential to make great reforms at the economic level in particular, noting the readiness of the United Kingdom to assist the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to achieve this vision. He drew the attention that the relations between the two countries were not based on commercial and security interests only but also on shared interests between the two peoples, noting the increasing number of Saudi tourists and students in the United Kingdom, who are always welcome in all parts of the United Kingdom, and noting that Saudi students on scholarships in British universities and institutes are an asset to the educational system of the United Kingdom as is the case for British Muslims who visit the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia annually to perform pilgrimage and Umrah (minor Hajj) or come to the country for work or tourism, whom we seek to provide them with whatever make them comfortable. Johnson said that there is great rapprochement on the positions of the two countries towards the Iranian threat, particularly in Syria and Yemen. He added that what I said is identical to what was mentioned by minster Al-Jubeir as for the tragedies we see in the Syrian city of Aleppo (Halab). I believe that this conversation confirms what we always say that no military solution exists for this problem but there should be a political solution, noting that the two sides had a good talk on all these matters and how to deal with terrorism and poisonous ideologies propagated by Daesh which harm Islam. As for Yemen, the British foreign secretary said the United Kingdom supports the coalition and its endeavor to restore the legitimate government's control on all parts of the country and continue dialogue, noting that there are dialogues and very detailed talks on the operations of the coalition and a great deal of concern on the sufferings of the Yemeni people, noting the commitments of the world community towards the necessity of work and efforts to alleviate this suffering, drawing the attention to the great threat the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was subjected to, due to this struggle along its border, citing the shelling of schools inside the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the killing of students and the threat of ballistic missiles targeting its territories across the border. The British foreign secretary confirmed that his country would not accept this threat on the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and would not allow it, so the two countries of Saudi Arabia and Britain should show cooperation and keenness to bring about stability and security for all the region. --SPA 20:35 LOCAL TIME 17:35 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w288202
