New Delhi, Shawwal 20, 1437, Jul 25, 2016, SPA -- At least eight children were killed when their school van was hit by a passenger train at an unmanned crossing in northern India on Monday, police said. The accident took place in Uttar Pradesh state's Bhadohi district, dpa reported. "Eight children between ages of six to fourteen died while the driver and 10 more were hospitalized with injuries," area police chief Satyendra Yadav said by phone. "Such was the impact of the collision that the van was thrown up in the air and landed in farms nearby," he added. Police believe the accident occurred as the driver tried to cross the track despite warnings of the train passing through. --SPA 19:55 LOCAL TIME 16:55 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
