Organization of Islamic Cooperation Condemns Suicide Bombing Attack on a Mosque in Nigeria

Jeddah, Jumada II 08, 1437, March 17, 2016, SPA -- The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), has condemned the bomb attack on Tuesday, 16 March 2016, believed to have been detonated by two female suicide bombers. The attack resulted in the death of at least 22 worshippers and injuring more than 35 others who have gathered for the dawn prayers in Umurari Molai area in Maiduguri, capital of Borno State in northeast Nigeria. The OIC Secretary General Iyad Amin Madani has expressed deep sorrow at this incessant killing of persons especially at places of worship in the ongoing violence in that part of Nigeria, warning the perpetrators from continuing in this course and urging them to desist from their criminal acts to allow peace in the region. While conveying his sincere condolences to the families of the victims of this latest violence and to the people and the Government of Nigeria, the Secretary General restated the OIC commitment to continue its support for the effort of the Government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in its renewed campaign to defeat terrorism, appealing to the authorities for further raising the security level around places of worship. --SPA 13:41 LOCAL TIME 10:41 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
