Several dead after siege of Spanish embassy guesthouse in Kabul

Kabul, Rabi'I 1, 1437, Dec 12, 2015, SPA -- A nine-hour terrorist siege at a foreign guesthouse in the Afghan capital ended Saturday morning with the four attackers and several other people dead, the Interior Ministry said. Two Spanish nationals and four Afghan policemen were killed, and nine civilians were wounded, the ministry confirmed. "All four attackers are dead after clashes with the police," Kabul police spokesman Basir Mujahid said. The attack "ended at between3:30 and 3:45 in the morning." Interior Ministry spokesman Sedik Sediki said the guesthouse in the upscale Sherpur district was targeted by a car bomb. Residents reported the explosion was followed by gunfire, which continued for several hours.
