Washington, Dhu-AlQa'dah 9, 1435, Sep 4, 2014, SPA -- Hurricane Norbert dropped drain along Mexico’s Pacific coast Thursday as it headed toward the Los Cabos resorts, where officials said they were preparing emergency shelters even though the hurricane’s center was expected to stay offshore as it moves past. The U.S. National Hurricane Center in Miami said Norbert had top sustained winds of 130 kilometers per hour (kph) Thursday morning, when the storm was centered about 250 kilometers south of the Baja California Peninsula. Forecasters said Norbert, which reached hurricane strength Wednesday, was moving northwest at 9 kph. Mexico’s National Meteorological Service said Norbert could produce intense rain over much of the country’s northwest. --SPA 19:08 LOCAL TIME 16:08 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
