BUSAN, South Korea, Shawwal 22, 1435, Aug 18, 2014, SPA -- The U.S. Navy and South Korean Navy are to increase cooperation in anti-submarine warfare training, UPI reported. The increased cooperation comes under a charter signed earlier this month in Korea by senior leaders of both navies. The charter covers the exchange knowledge and development of training scenarios and establishment of special working groups, according to U.S. Naval Forces Korea. "Anti-submarine warfare is one of the most challenging yet critical tasks that our navies exercise," said Vice Adm. Robert L. Thomas, commander, U.S. 7th Fleet. "It takes a strong combined body of talented people and a cooperative plan to work together to achieve our full potential in ASW capabilities." --SPA 21:11 LOCAL TIME 18:11 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
