On the other hand, and in response to Norway, which expressed concern about the climate of human rights, freedoms and judicial rulings in the kingdom, Faisal Trad said in front of the Human Rights Council that the representative of Norway's deep concern does not worry us at all because the Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is committed to the promotion and protection of human rights. At the same time, we strongly reject any attempt that would diminish the status of its courts, abuse it, or even intervene in its affairs. The government of my country stresses that every human right that must be obtained has a corresponding duty that must be committed to. Human rights do not prevail in a society that doesn't balance between rights and duties. Society has inherent rights that must be respected exactly like those of individuals' rights. He added that the protection of the security that underlies all human rights and public order of the state is a right guaranteed by the international law of human rights. My delegation notes that the judiciary in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is derived from Islamic law which mandated the protection of human rights and criminalized any violation of them. It is proudly a fundamental safeguard for the protection of the legitimate rights and freedoms. He stressed that the laws of the Kingdom ensure fundamental freedoms and criminalize their violation provided that they do not adversely affect other rights as human rights are integrated, interrelated and indivisible as stated in the Declaration and Programme of Action of Vienna. He added, "Therefore, the claim that there is suppression of these freedoms in my country is incorrect and irresponsible. My country distances itself from reciprocating on those allegations for respect of human rights by it and compliance with its obligation towards their non-politicization or ideologization. Equally, my country reiterates the necessity of respecting the judiciary, not abusing it and interfering in its affairs. It will not allow any such practice and emphasizes its commitment to do so." --SPA 14:06 LOCAL TIME 11:06 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
