Saudi Press: Infrastructure in Saudi Arabia Proves its Ability during Coronavirus Pandemic

Riyadh, January 20, 2021, SPA -- Saudi newspapers highlighted in their editorials today a number of issues at local, regional and international arenas. Al-Bilad newspaper said in its editorial that Saudi Arabia has made qualitative leaps in the legislative and executive investment environment and created promising opportunities in all productive and service sectors. Moreover, Saudi Arabia has launched modern smart cities as a continuation of the modern Saudi development map. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia accelerates the steps that were taking to enhance its great position and influential role, as its efforts have been crowned by the successes of its presidency of the G20, the newspaper added. Saudi Arabia interacts with investors, entities, and economic forums worldwide, presenting its development model and the elements of diversity and sustainability that it has provided for development. In this regard, the fourth Future Investment Initiative (FII) will be held under the slogan “The Neo-Renaissance”, and it will include the global participation and an agenda that interacts highly with this Saudi ambitious model, the newspaper concluded. Al-Eqtisadiah newspaper reported in its editorial that Saudi Arabia has taken qualitative leaps to accelerate digital transformation and adopt communication and information technology systems to achieve high rates of technical means for services that are provided to citizens. The newspaper pointed to HRH the Crown’s speech where he talked about the achievements that have been made in the digital sector and said “The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has jumped 40 ranks in the digital infrastructure index for communications and information technology. We have invested more than 55 billion riyals in the digital infrastructure of the Kingdom, which resulted in an increase in the average internet speed until we became the first country with 5th generation speed, and also became among the top ten countries in the world in mobile internet speed, after we were not on the list of the top 100 countries. We tripled the number of homes connected to the optical fiber network from 1 million homes to 3.5 million." The Ministry of Education was able to continue the remote education for all stages due to the existence of a strong and well-established digital infrastructure that was provided by the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA). The Ministry of Health, in cooperation with the Ministry of Interior and SDAIA, enabled people to meet all their needs during the lockdown period until reaching registration for Coronavirus vaccine nowadays.
