SPA President: Media Has Big Opportunities for Creativity, Development

Riyadh, February 16, 2023, SPA -- Saudi Press Agency (SPA) President Dr. Fahd bin Hassan Al Aqran stressed that the opportunities for creativity and development in the "media" are currently tremendous given the diversity of media content and its fields, noting that innovation is a fundamental pillar and a feature of development in all areas, especially that the media is significantly changing and accelerating due to technological development. Dr. Al Aqran made his remarks today while participating in a session titled "Promoting Creativity and Innovation in Diverse Environments" as part of the second-day sessions of the Social Innovation Forum 2023. The session saw the participation of KOTO Founder and Chairman Jimmy Pham AM, Senior Executive Director of Innovation and Knowledge at the National Institute for Health Research, Dr Sultan Al-Mubarak, Board Member of Sanad Association and Member of Asbar Forum Dr Al-Jazi Al-Shubaiki, Director of the Center for Teaching and Learning Development at the University of Business and Technology Dr Hatoon Al-Qadi. Dr. Al Aqran noted that previously there were four main media hubs: "political, sports, cultural and economic", and at present, there are broader and bigger areas in media content such as heritage, tourism, innovation, environment and artificial intelligence, and this is an opportunity to develop valuable media content through an institutional work developed by ideas and improved by human resources in harmony among media institutions and the media departments of universities and institutes in the Kingdom, noting that technology and innovation shape the future. He said: "I believe that media, as part of these changes in the world, needs innovation in a more significant way in the Arab world due to the development of media tools and recipients as well”. Other participants in the session talked about the role of innovation in the health sector, quality of human health, social welfare, digitizing students' voluntary giving, innovation and media, challenges and the future. The participants also went over the importance of supporting digital transformation programs to achieve Saudi Vision 2030 and contribute to developing the quality of performance of the non-profit sector, in addition to increasing support, communication and coordination between the profit sector and educational institutions through the National Volunteer Portal, and the National Center for Non-Profit Sector to spread awareness and culture of the importance of activating the role of volunteerism in society, reach one million volunteers in 2030, and provide an enabling environment for volunteerism and stimulate greater participation. --SPA 14:30 LOCAL TIME 11:30 GMT 0015 www.spa.gov.sa/w1855064
