Riyadh, Safar 26, 1437, December 08, 2015, SPA -- The city of Riyadh, capital of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, is set to host from 9-10 December 2015, the meetings of the Supreme Council for the leaders of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) which holds its 36th session at an invitation of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. Riyadh has previously played host to six GCC summits, starting with the second one which was held in November 1981 at an invitation of late King Khalid bin Abdulaziz Al Saud whereas the political, economical and security situations in the Arab Gulf were reviewed. The GCC vowed determination to continue coordination in these fields to face the challenges engulfing the region and rejected the attempts of some foreign forces to find footholds in the Arab Gulf considered as a threat to its security and sovereignty. The Council reiterated its belief that no fair peace could be reached in the Middle East without the withdrawal of Israel from all occupied Arab territories, including Al-Quds, and the elimination of Israeli settlements on Arab territories. The meeting reviewed the Arab and international response to the peace principles announced by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia seeking a just and comprehensive solution of the Palestinian issue and assigned the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to put the initiative on the agenda of the 12th Arab summit scheduled at the time for Morocco. --More 13:20 LOCAL TIME 10:20 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
