The Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Dr. Yousef bin Ahmed Al-Othaimeen, has expressed his growing concern over the increasing of civilian casualties, calling on Taliban Movement and the Government of Afghanistan to put an end to hostility acts and going forward in negotiations to reach a political settlement of this protracted conflict. OIC Secretary General said that there is no military solution can be reached in Afghanistan, it is time to reach a lasting political settlement, the Islamic nation expects and hopes that the armed opposition will respond to the unconditional offer of the Afghan government to reach a negotiated solution. The OIC has made many appeals to the Afghan parties, most recently the appeal made through the final communiqué issued by the International Conference of Scholars on Peace and Security in Afghanistan held in Makkah last month, which called on all concerned parties to seize the opportunity to achieve a lasting peace in Afghanistan through dialogue and reconciliation. --SPA 14:04 LOCAL TIME 11:04 GMT 0016 www.spa.gov.sa/w734798
