Majed Rafed Al-Argoubi is the chief executive officer of the Saudi Authority for Industrial Cities and Technology Zones. The government agency specializes in the development of integrated infrastructure and currently oversees 36 industrial cities in the Kingdom. Al-Argoubi has more than 23 years’ experience working in the public and private sectors in roles involving executive, and capital project management, infrastructure and logistics, and public-private partnerships, and has led teams in areas such as energy, transport, logistics, and construction. From 2019 to last year, he was the general director of Jeddah Islamic Port helping improve the dock’s operational efficiency standing from 53rd to eighth in world performance rankings. For two years from 2016, he was the Saudi Ministry of Transport and Logistic Services’ deputy minister of roads. Between 2002 and 2013, he worked as chief engineer at Saudi Aramco before being appointed managing director of the Saudi Binladen Group in 2013. During the early part of his career, Al-Argoubi was a project engineer for Samref and later Dallah Albaraka in 1998. He has served as a representative and member on many executive boards and committees including the Saudi Ports Authority’s privatization contract development committee in 2021 and 2022. He was also involved in the establishment of the National Road Safety Center and worked on major projects including the King Abdullah Sports City in Jeddah. Al-Argoubi gained a master’s degree in business administration from the Arab Academy for Science, Technology, and Maritime Transport and a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals.
