In a powerful address at the 9th meeting of GCC Ministers for Islamic Affairs and Awqaf, Minister of Islamic Affairs Sheikh Dr. Abdullatif Al-Sheikh, reiterated the steadfast commitment of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) to stand with the Palestinian people. Since its inception, the GCC has consistently supported their cause, vehemently rejecting hostile policies and actions against them. The minister underlined that the Palestinian issue is not just a concern for Palestinians but a matter that resonates universally. “It is a cause that unifies Islamic and Arab nations, transcending boundaries and impacting humanity as a whole.” Sheikh Dr. Abdullatif emphasized the urgency of elevating this matter to the forefront of collective consciousness and religious discussions. During the meeting held in Muscat, the minister stressed the imperative to raise awareness among the youth, emphasizing that personal opinions should align with the official positions of their governments. He noted that leaders, equipped to handle these complex matters, should guide the actions and decisions of the younger generation. Addressing the topics discussed in the meeting, the protection of religious, moral, and family values in GCC societies took center stage. In the age of technological advancements, where barriers between countries have diminished, Sheikh Dr. Abdullatif highlighted the critical importance of preserving these values. He acknowledged the presence of forces attempting to erode religious beliefs and moral foundations, employing both explicit and implicit methods to encourage rebellion against noble values. The minister underscored the significant responsibility of the ministries of Islamic and religious affairs and awqaf in instilling strong values, morals, and a deep understanding of the Islamic faith among the youth. This, he emphasized, is essential in effectively countering the globalized trend of separating individuals and societies from their core values. Achieving this goal, according to Sheikh Dr. Abdullatif, can only happen within the family unit, serving as the cornerstone for shaping resilient future generations.
