Under the patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) will organize an international conference on November 24-25, 2024, to mark the 30th anniversary of the Saudi Conjoined Twins Program. The event will gather ministers, leaders, and global experts specializing in conjoined twin separations, as well as professionals in the medical and humanitarian sectors from around the world. This conference will coincide with the International Conjoined Twins Day, an initiative recently adopted by the United Nations at the behest of Saudi Arabia. This unique conference will focus on cases of conjoined twins and highlight Saudi Arabia"s pioneering efforts in this field, which began in 1990 with the Saudi Conjoined Twins Program. Over the past 34 years, the program has successfully performed 61 separation surgeries and conducted medical evaluations for 139 cases from 26 countries. The conference will feature ministerial sessions, specialized scientific sessions, humanitarian sessions, side events, discussion workshops, and exhibitions dedicated to children with special needs and their humanitarian considerations. Several agreements will be signed with the UN and international organizations dedicated to children"s welfare, reflecting Saudi Arabia"s commitment to humanitarian efforts and the care of vulnerable children. The conference will also showcase the Kingdom"s extensive experience in conjoined twins separation, having the largest program of its kind globally. The conference is expected to produce significant recommendations that will enrich medical and humanitarian libraries, serving as a valuable reference for specialists and those interested in conjoined twin separation and humanitarian work.
