King Salman reconstitutes Shoura Council and Council of Senior Scholars

Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman has issued on Monday two royal orders, reconstituting Shoura Council and the Council of Senior Scholars. Saudi Arabia"s Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdul Aziz Al-Sheikh has been reappointed chairman of the Council of Senior Scholars while Sheikh Abdullah Al-Sheikh was reinstated as speaker of the Shoura Council, the Saudi Press Agency reported. Mishaal Al-Salami was re-named deputy speaker of Shoura Council while Dr. Hanan Al-Ahmadi was re-appointed assistant speaker. The 150-member Shoura Council has been reconstituted for a period of four years effective from Friday, Rabi Al-Awwal 3, 1446, corresponding to Sept. 6, 2024. There are 20 members in addition to the chairman in the 21-member Council of Senior Scholars. Members of the Council include Shoura Council Speaker Sheikh Abdulllah Al-Sheikh, Muslim World League Secretary General Sheikh Muhammad Al-Issa, former Shoura Council Speaker and Grand Mosque Imam Sheikh Saleh bin Abdullah bin Humaid, former Secretary General of MWL Sheikh Abdullah Al-Turki and Saudi Attorney General Sheikh Saud Al-Muajab. The Council is also comprising the following eminent scholars: Sheikh Saleh Al-Fawzan, Sheikh Abdullah Al-Manea, Sheikh Abdullah Al-Mutlaq, Sheikh Saad Al-Shathri, Sheikh Abdulrahman Al-Kulliyah, Sheikh Muhammad Al-Sheikh, Sheikh Yusuf Saeed, Sheikh Muhammad Mazid, Sheikh Jibreel Al-Bassayli, Sheikh Abdulsalam Al-Sulayman, Sheikh Ghalib Hamdhi, Sheikh Sami Al-Sokhair, Sheikh Bandar Baleela, Sheikh Abdulbaqi Mubarak, and Sheikh Abdulilah Al-Mulla. The reconstitution of the Council of Senior Scholars will come into force from Wednesday, Rabi Al-Awwal 1, 1446, corresponding to Sept. 4, 2024.
