A US official has affirmed that his country is willing to cement economic cooperation with Saudi Arabia, namely in the field of food security. Allan Holman, US Embassy to Saudi Arabia and Bahrain regional agricultural annex, said in a statement to Asharq Al-Awsat that there are wide horizons to expand the US-Saudi partnership whether on the economic level or even in the field of food and agricultural production in specific. “We have a comprehensive strategic cooperation with Riyadh on all levels. We look forward to discover new partnerships opportunities and interests in reinforcing food industrial and agricultural production. For instance, there is Arasco in Saudi Arabia with a US cooperation to achieve the greatest production in the field of cornflour and its products, regionally,” added Holman. He added that the two countries are boosting their cooperation in food and agricultural production as well as supporting SMEs to motivate and increase trade through imports and exports in both countries business sector. As for reaching maximum level of US-Saudi cooperation through the Saudi Vision 2030 programs, Holman said: “Vision 2030 is significant, inspiring and worth contributing to find a unique form of cooperation between the two countries in its various programs.” He expected the vision to urge a transformation and influential changes in the fruitful economic cooperation. “It would contribute to accelerating the Saudi transformation from hydrocarbon products-economy to knowledge-based economy, and supporting diversifying economy. Therefore, this would build the future of Saudi youths and push them to follow suit of entrepreneurs,” Holman continued.
