Saudi air defenses intercepted and destroyed on Monday a ballistic missile fired by the Iran-backed Houthi militias in Yemen at the Kingdom, reported the Saudi Press Agency. Saudi-led Arab coalition spokesman Colonel Turki al-Maliki said that the rocket was fired from Yemen’s Saada region at the Saudi city of Jizan. The air defenses detected and destroyed the missile that was deliberately directed towards residential areas, he added. No one was injured in the incident. Maliki condemned the attack, saying this hostile act demonstrates the Iranian regime’s ongoing involvement in supporting the Houthis with sophisticated weapons in clear and blatant violation of United Nations Security Council resolutions 2216 and 2231. He also accused it of threatening Saudi, regional and international security.
