Saudi air defenses intercepted and destroyed on Monday a ballistic missile fired by the Iran-backed Houthi militias in Yemen. Saudi-led Arab coalition spokesman Colonel Turki al-Maliki said that the missile was fired from Yemen’s Saada region towards Saudi Arabia’s Jizan city. He said that the missile was deliberately fired at residential areas, but it was destroyed before it could reach its target. No one was injured in the incident, he added. Maliki condemned the attack, saying this hostile act demonstrates the Iranian regime’s ongoing involvement in supporting the Houthis with sophisticated weapons in clear and blatant violation of United Nations Security Council resolutions 2216 and 2231. The downed missile brings the total rockets fired by the Houthis against Saudi Arabia to 182.
