MAKHACHKALA, Russia, May 17, SPA -- Russian Interior Ministry officials say two police officers and a civilian have beenkilled by militants in Chechnya and a neighboring southernprovince. The ministry's branch in Chechnya says a policeman waskilled late Saturday by a remote-controlled explosivedevice planted by the rebels near the southern village ofBamut. The Interior Ministry's division in the neighboringprovince of Dagestan said Sunday that another policeofficer was shot dead by unidentified gunmen Saturday nightin the town of Khasavyurt near the border with Chechnya.
