The Jeddah-based Al-Madinah newspaper lauded the great attention given by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz to the mission and works of the Shoura council ever since his ascendance to the throne more than three years ago. The paper noted that the King has been giving a tremendous attention to the concept of Shoura (Consultation) because it is one of the fundamental principles of Islam as stipulated in the Holy Quran and Sunnah (The Prophet's teachings). "Moreover, the King is fully aware of the importance of the parliamentary system too". Al-Madinah newspaper said King Abdullah, who has been tirelessly extending support to the Shoura Council, has introduced some amendments in the articles of the Shoura system for keeping up the pace of development being witnessed by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. 'The King has urged the members of the Shoura Council to engage in consultation with him for the service of the religion and country," the daily added.--MORE www.spa.gov.sa/640096
