ISLAMABAD, NOVEMBER 27, SPA -- Pakistan's defense doctrine is based on minimum credible deterrence so as to safeguard its sovereignty and territorial integrity which will facilitate maintenance of peace and stability in the region, Caretaker Prime Minister Mohammadmian Soomro said. Talking to Pakistan Air Force (PAF) Chief Tanvir Mahmood Ahmed, he said that PAF is one of the best fighting machine substantially equipped to defend the national air space. The standard of its training and compatibility, he said, is second to none and the nation feels proud of its air force. The Prime Minister said that Pakistan does not harbour aggressive designs against any country and has no intention to enter into an arm race. "We are playing a stabilizing role in the region and believe in settlement of all outstanding disputes through diplomatic means in a peaceful manner." On his part, The Chief of Air Staff updated the Prime Minister about the up-graduation and modernization programme of air force and updated him about the programme to enhance indigenous capabilities.--SPA www.spa.gov.sa/503728
