ISLAMABAD, SEPT 27, SPA -- General Pervez Musharraf Thursday filed with the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) his candidacy papers, seeking re-election as President of Pakistan for another five-year term, officials said. Musharraf will face two important contestants Justice (retd) Wajihuddin Ahmed, fielded by lawyers, and Makhdoom Amin Fahim, sponsored by Benazir Bhutto s Pakistan People s Party (PPP). They also filed their nomination papers on Thursday, the date fixed by the ECP for the purpose. The electoral college comprising the two chambers of the federal parliament and four provincial assemblies will vote for presidential election on October 6. Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz accompanied by several ministers submitted Musharraf s papers with the ECP on the president s behalf. Ahmed and Fahim reached the ECP offices in processions to file their candidacy papers.
