Bush starts Pakistan visit

Islamabad, March 4, SPA -- President George W. Bush accompanied by First Lady Laura Bush flew into Islamabad from India Friday night for an official visit to Pakistan amid unprecedented security, officials said. Foreign Minister Khurshid Mehmood Kasuri and his wife received Bush at the Chaklala Air Force Base, near Islamabad. On Saturday morning, a formal reception ceremony was held at the lawn of the Aiwan-e-Sadr (presidential palace) in Islamabad where President General Pervez Musharraf received Bush. Bush was presented a guard of honor that he inspected. National anthems of the two countries were also played. Bush was introduced to Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz and some of his cabinet members, and services chiefs and aides to Musharraf.
