Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, Sept 1, SPA -- Kyrgyz President Askar Akayev said in a new book released Wednesday that the UnitedStates and Russia should cooperate in his Central Asiannation, where both countries have deployed troops andwarplanes. In his 400-page book titled, "My Optimistic Vision of theFuture: Reflections on Foreign Policy and World Order," Akayev also raised concerns about outside support foropposition forces in post-Soviet republics. He citedGeorgia, where former President Eduard Shevardnadze wasforced from office last year by public protests led bycurrent President Mikhail Saakashvili. "The pressure on the head of the state (Shevardnadze)wasn't spontaneous, but very well-planned and carried outaccording to long-planned scenario," Akayev wrote. "Itpretty much was a coup d'etat initiated from outside thecountry." Akayev wrote that Kyrgyzstan's close engagement with bothRussia and the United States should not be grounds forstruggle between them.
