HRC President Highlights Saudi Arabia's Efforts and Reforms in Human Rights

Riyadh, October 23, 2022, SPA -- President of the Human Rights Commission (HRC), Dr. Hala bint Mazyad Al-Tuwaijri, highlighted the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s efforts in human rights, and the successive legislative reforms that it has adopted in this regard, stressing that this comes from the keenness of the wise leadership to protect and promote human rights and consolidate the principles of justice and equality. This came during a meeting with Dr. Al-Tuwaijri in Riyadh today with the Middle East and Gulf Working Group of the European Council headed by Dr. Till Blume, Calin Mitri, and several delegates of the Council’s task force, stressing during the meeting that the Kingdom has made qualitative leaps in various fields of human rights in an embodiment of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, which has taken the human being as the core of its development. Dr. Al-Tuwaijri noted the developments in the Kingdom aimed at raising the quality of life, taking care of the various segments of society, and empowering women to be essential partners in development, adding that empowering women, enhancing their rights and activating their role in the national economy witnessed multiple leaps, in addition to the reforms achieved in the protection of the rights of children, the elderly and persons with disabilities, combating trafficking in persons, and developing a system of specialized legislation.
