Riyadh, Nov. 15, 2021, SPA -- President of the Saudi Red Crescent Authority Dr. Jalal Al-Owaisi reiterated the Kingdom's keenness to implement all international law agreements, most notably those that ensure respect and application of international humanitarian law at international levels. Al-Owaisi made his remarks while addressing the opening of the international humanitarian law session, scheduled to last for five days, held with more than 100 participants representing civil and military government sectors at the authority’s headquarters in Riyadh. Al-Owaisi, also Chairman of the Permanent Committee of International Humanitarian Law, underlined the close relationship between commitment to implementing the teachings of the true Islamic religion and the rules of international humanitarian law, especially concerning the protection of civilians, the rules for the conduct of belligerents, and the prohibition of some methods of fighting, citing what is stipulated in the Holy Quran and the Sunnah of the Prophet. He also briefed the attendants on the committee's role, which includes twelve government and military entities in its membership, since its inception by a cabinet decision in 2007, to be tasked with promoting the culture of International Humanitarian Law. --SPA 20:43 LOCAL TIME 17:43 GMT 0034 www.spa.gov.sa/w1651897
