Riyadh, December 22, 2019, SPA -- Saudi newspapers highlighted in their editorials today a number of issues at local, regional and international arenas. Al-Yaum newspaper said in its editorial that the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz has put the fight against corruption on his list of priorities since he took over the country, and supported the role of the National Anti-Corruption Commission by enabled it to fully perform its duties. The paper said that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia ranks 58 globally out of 180 countries in the Corruption Perceptions Index, according to Transparency International in 2018. Al-Riyadh newspaper said in its editorial that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia had an ancient and honorable history in combating money laundering operations with specific mechanisms and programs, and in conjunction with the announcement of its Vision 2030, the Kingdom rewrote the mechanisms and programs on strong and practical basis and intensified the tools of monitoring and control. Al-Bilad newspaper said in its editorial that the decision of the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court to open an investigation of the crimes of the Israeli occupation in the Palestinian lands is an advanced step towards restoring some justice and retribution to the Palestinian people, and an indication of the international community’s move towards the Palestinian demands that the occupation should be tried for continuous war crimes over a period of seven decades. The paper said that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has affirmed its steadfast stance towards legitimate Palestinian rights as the central issue, and it called to the international community to shoulder its responsibilities towards ending the crimes of the occupation. -- SPA 09:57 LOCAL TIME 06:57 GMT 0002 www.spa.gov.sa/w1232860
