Regarding to the Syrian negotiations between the opposition and the regime and the Saudi stance towards these negotiations as well as the presence of Saudi-Turkish coordination in this regard, Foreign Minister Adel Al-Jubeir said: "The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia supports any effort leading to a ceasefire and to facilitate entry of humanitarian aid in Syria. The coordination between the Kingdom and Turkey is very solid and existing. We support any effort leading to get Syria rid of the current tragedy. The Kingdom also supports any effort leading to resumption of negotiations based on Geneva Declaration 1 and the Security Council resolution no. 2254 which stipulates that there should be a transitional council to rule. The talks, currently ongoing in Astana between the fighting parties in Syria and the regime, are aiming to implement a ceasefire and to facilitate the entry of humanitarian aid and then move to Geneva for political consultations and discussions." In response to a question regarding statements of the Iranian President who stressed that the problem with the Kingdom is centered in the Kingdom's intervention in Yemen and Bahrain, Al-Jubeir said: "With regard to the so-called Kingdom's intervention in the Kingdom of Bahrain, Bahrain is an ally and brotherly state of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Regarding Yemen, the Kingdom's intervention was in response to a request by the legitimate government in Yemen in order to thwart a pro-Iranian Hezbollah radical group plan to take control of Yemen whereas the coup group was in possession of air warplanes and ballistic missiles which represent a threat to the Kingdom and the countries of the region. I think that the problems between the Kingdom and Iran have started since the eruption of Iranian revolution (Khomeini's revolution) in 1979 when Iran adopted a sectarian policy and sought to stage sedition in the Muslim world, adopted a supportive policy for terrorism through establishing Hezbollah terrorist militias in Lebanon and stormed the embassies, assassinated diplomats and carried out terrorist operations not only in the region but also in Europe, South America and other regions. These are the reasons of the problems." --More 20:08 LOCAL TIME 17:08 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w318997
