Jeddah, Dhu-AlHijjah 14, 1437, Sep 15, 2016, SPA -- The National Society for Human Rights, in the kingdom, expressed surprise and deep concern over approval of the US Congress to pass a legislation known as: Justice Law against Sponsors of Terrorism, because it contained therein clear violations of fixed principles of international law, the Charter of the United Nations and the principle of sovereign immunity enjoyed by the states, recognized and confirmed by international laws and norms in force. The head of the society Dr. Mufleh bin Rabi'an Al-Qahtani said in a statement in his name and on behalf of the members of the National Society for Human Rights that the law does not serve justice and it exceeded the sovereignty of states as it sets a dangerous precedent in international relations for violating the principle of state immunity from the jurisdiction of another State, expressing skepticism about the ulterior motives for approval of the issuance of such a legislation, which lacks any goal of achieving justice. He hoped that the US President will veto the issuance of this law, for the protection of the principles of international law, maintenance of rules of international justice and to ensure continued international cooperation in combating terrorism, at the international level, warning that such a law will contribute to the support terrorists to commit their acts, in vexation of their government, violate its domestic laws and if they find that there is a state that will blame government of a country for their terrorist acts, then such an act will achieve their goals and affect international efforts, in the fight against terrorism. -- SPA 04:00 LOCAL TIME 01:00 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
