Abuja, Rabi'II 27, 1436, February 16, 2015, SPA -- Nigeria's army reclaimed north-eastern territory from the control of the terrorist group Boko Haram after almost two days of fighting, dpa quoted the Defence Ministry as saying Monday. Soldiers liberated the town of Monguno, seized by Boko Haram two weeks ago, and several other smaller communities in Borno State, defence spokesman Chris Olukolade said. "Troops in a military operation spearheaded by highly coordinated air assaults have completed the mission of clearing terrorists from Monguno and environs this morning," Olukolade said. An unspecified number of Boko Haram members and supplies, including rice and beans, were also captured, the spokesman said. Olukolade did not disclose the number of casualties or arms recovered since the operation began Saturday. Military forces, meanwhile, were engaged in operations aimed at regaining control over other towns and villages seized by the militants. -- SPA 20:21 LOCAL TIME 17:21 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
