Kingdom's commitment to promotion, protection of human rights stems from principles of Islamic Sharia 2 Geneva

The President of the Human Rights Commission stated that the kingdom's efforts continue to develop the judiciary, strengthen judicial procedures and improve the judicial environment and that programs of rehabilitation and training of judges are continuing especially with regard to human rights agreements joined by the kingdom. He noted that work is continuing to prepare a code of the provisions of Islamic law in personal status, offenses and penalties. He reiterated the kingdom's interest to observe the principle of full independence of the judiciary, and the need to respect the judicial system, and the inadmissibility of interference in the functioning of the judiciary, procedures or provisions. In the framework of Saudi women's empowerment, he said that it has achieved further successes the most recent of which were the participation in the municipal elections and winning of several seats in the elections to continue their role in development with efficiency and effectiveness.
