Kingdom's commitment to promotion, protection of human rights stems from principles of Islamic Sharia

Geneva, Jumada I 21, 1437, March 01, 2016, SPA -- President of the Human Rights Commission Dr. Bandar bin Mohammed Al-Aiban delivered today the speech of the kingdom before the 31st session of the Council of Human Rights stressing that the commitment of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the promotion and protection of human rights stems from its approach derived from the principles of Islamic law, which necessitates the protection of these rights. He pointed out that the ongoing reform and development process taking place in the kingdom reflects the firm belief in the importance of comprehensive development which focuses on people as the basis for development. He noted that the development process included several developmental areas related to human rights, including the judiciary, economy and development, and the expansion of women's participation. He highlighted the continuing enhancement of the strength of the legal and institutional framework for human rights which enjoy the attention of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdul-Aziz Al Saud who issued many orders in this regard, including the establishment of Political and Security Affairs Council, the Council of economic Affairs and Development, in order to enhance the performance and the level of coordination, speed up decision-making and follow-up of implementation.
