Riyadh, September 01, 2021, SPA -- Saudi newspapers highlighted in their editorials today a number of issues at local, regional and international arenas. Al-Bilad Newspaper reported in its editorial that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has achieved advanced steps in accelerating digital transformation and reaching the concept of smart government, the paper said. For this purpose, Saudi Arabia has strengthened its strong digital infrastructure, ranking among the top 10 globally advanced countries in this field, the paper further said. Saudi Arabia has demonstrated its efficiency and competence in facing all challenges and crises, including the COVID-19 pandemic and its Severe impact on the global economy, the paper added. In this regard, the Cabinet considered the Kingdom’s launch of a package of qualitative initiatives and technological programs, in cooperation with the world's key technology giants which constitutes the biggest technological launch of its kind in the Middle East and North Africa, as a translation of the directives of leadership, in order to achieve the goals of the Kingdom Vision 2030 to seize the opportunities of the digital economy and consolidate the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's position as a regional technological hub for the most important entrepreneurs, innovators and programmers, the paper further added. Through these steps, the Kingdom has recorded leadership in launching a tight policy for the digital economy as the National Transformation Program (NTP) has achieved great results, while continuing to promote community development and ensure the sustainability of vital resources, the paper concluded. Al- Yaum Newspaper reported in its editorial that the Cabinet affirmed in its virtual session chaired by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud that Saudi Arabia takes all measures to protect civilians and civilian objects in accordance with the international humanitarian law and its customary rules. Iran-backed terrorist Houthi militia’s two attempts to attack Abha International Airport in a systematic and deliberate manner, whereas one of them resulted in injuries and damage to a civilian aircraft, are a continuation of hostilities and war crimes targeting passengers of different nationalities and the airport staff, the paper said. the Official Spokesman of the Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen Brigadier General Turki Al-Malki stated that a second attempt to target traveling civilians and staff at Abha International Airport by the terrorist, Iran-backed Houthi militia using a bomb-laden drone on Tuesday was thwarted, the paper added. This hostile, atrocious attempt is the second one to target Abha International Airport and its multinational traveling civilians today in a deliberate, systematic manner. These acts confirm the hostile nature of the militia, and its transgressions against the customary International Humanitarian Law, under which Abha International Airport is considered a Civilian Object protected by the International Humanitarian Law, the paper further added .
