Jeddah, Jumada I 2, 1437, Feb 11, 2016, SPA -- The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has condemned in the strongest terms the suicide bomb attack carried out on 9 February 2016 by two female elements of the Boko Haram terrorist group on the camp for the Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) located in Dikwa, Borno State in north eastern Nigeria, which claimed 58 innocent lives and wounded over 78 others. In a statment to Saudi Press Agency (SPA), OIC Secretary General Iyad Ameen Madani expressed indignation at the attack on helpless people who had already lost their homes and livelihood due to the continuing violence meted on them by outlaws. Heconveyed his condolences to and sympathy with the governments of Nigeria and Borno State as well as the families of the victims of this horrific incident. He also prayed for the quick recovery of the injured. While reiterating the solidarity of the OIC with the government of Nigeria in its sustained fight against the extremist Boko Haram group, which continues to unleash terror on the population in north eastern Nigeria and other countries of the Lake Chad Basin, Mr. Madani urged the authorities in the region to enhance security and protectionaround IDP and refugee camps.
