On different Arab countries, the council provided support for other Arab countries in terms of economic and social assistance, citing Lebanon, Libya and Sudan. On the economic side, the council approved the Unified Economic Agreement in 1981 as a turning point of the joint economic work. The Member States approved economic unity within four steps; Custom Federation, Joint Gulf Market, free trade area and achieving gains of citizenship in transportation, residence, work in private and public sectors and social security. Gulf electricity grid is a strategic political decision to activate the Unified Economic Agreement of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf, stemming from the keenness of the GCC leaders to the common interests of the GCC countries. The council praised the decision of establishing Gulf Police, assuring that this authority will enhance security work and expand fields of cooperation and coordination between security authorities and defeating terrorism. On terror combating, the council assured the Member States' stances toward all kinds of terrorism and whatever are the reasons of it. Also, the council noted executive actions taken in this field and assured its support for either regional or international efforts to combat terrorism and terrorist organizations.
