Up early? My little one, who’s nine, opens one of my eyes to wake me up. I try to have her in my bed on a Saturday night sothat if I get my eyelid opened too early, I can give her the iPad and go half in and out of a snooze. If my plan works, we’ll noodle downstairs around 10am. What’s for breakfast? I’m all about breakfast. I’ll have scrambled eggs, sourdough toast, spinach, cherry tomatoes, avocado, olive oil and a little drizzle of balsamic and chilli salt, with a lovely oat milk latte. After that? I’m obsessed with Love Your Garden with Alan Titchmarsh. I’ve got my daughter into it as well. There is something really calming about that man. Sometimes my daughter says, ‘But Mummy, you don’t do any gardening.’ After that? We’ll get our wellies on and go for a walk and climb over logs. We may go to Windsor to see a dear friend and her donkeys. We’re always out and about meeting people, usually around a meal: I’m a big foodie. What’s for lunch? A roast, always, usually out somewhere. Although yesterday my daughter said that it’s been a while since I’ve cooked one. I’m a good cook, but because I’m always running around I use it as an excuse not to. But getting told off by your child – you need to lean into that a bit. Sunday afternoons? We’ll watch a movie together. It’s currently Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again. People talk about the difficulties of being a single mum, but it’s precious – there’s something very lovely about hunkering down with the little one and being completely content together. Sunday evenings? We’ll check that my daughter’s done everything and then maybe pop over to my parents’ to say hello and have some dinner. Come home, do some reading with her and then she’s off to bed and I’ll watch the Strictly results and talk to my publicist about the working week. Just before lights out? Because I’ve never wanted to have any kind of [cosmetic] intervention, I’m a real stickler for great skincare. It’s also quite a tool for just centering yourself again. You give most of your time to your children, so it brings you back to you a little bit.
